Now here's a trailer that looks a little more interesting. I was too young to watch Miami Vice when it was on originally, but I am familiar with the whole Don Johnson pastel suits and T-shirts look. And this is not it. From what I can tell, the only thing similar between the film, and the TV show is the name, and those of the main characters, Crockett and Tubbs.
Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx star in this "remake" directed by Michael Mann, and that's probably the most exciting part. Michael Mann directed Collateral and Heat, two of the best Action/Suspense/Cop movies of all time (yeah, Collateral isn't a cop movie, but whatever). So even if you never knew, or liked the original series, that doesn't really matter anyway, since this is going to be completely different, and probably a hell of a lot better.
To watch the trailer, you'll have to go to Bacardi Live, verify your age, then find the trailer link. This is definitely annoying, and a really crass example of product tie-ins. That's the one thing I don't like about Michael Mann. In Collateral, there were several shots of the Bacardi ad sitting on the roof of the taxi. I felt violated watching that. And this isn't much better.
However, I've got a few screenshots up after the jump.
