Michael Garcia - September 30, 2016
In honor of the wayward criminals of the comedy, Masterminds, in theaters September 30, we're taking a look at some of our world's most inept, clumsy, and dumb-ass criminals.
I've never committed a serious crime in my life so I'm not exactly an expert when it comes to the ins and outs of grand theft. But one thing that is definitely a necessity, it seems to me, is a getaway vehicle, preferably with an accomplice waiting with the engine running ready to make an escape. Haven't these people seen every bank robbery movie ever? I guess not. That was the fatal mistake made by Gainsville, FL ('natch) thief Keshunte Taylor. She entered a local area Arby's and held it up at gun point. She got the money and then made her escape. She probably would have gotten away if she'd chosen a better getaway vehicle. She took a cab. So, it wasn't hard for cops to find her. How many taxis can there be in Gainsville? It's not like you are in midtown Manhattan. The cops arrested her two blocks away. Some escape.Â
The real question in my mind is why rob an Arby's of all places? She only got $219 out of the score and frankly I'm surprised she got that much. If you are going to rob a fast food restaurant I feel like Arby's would be way down on the list. Did she ask for extra Horsey sauce along with the money? I just don't understand people.
