If there's one thing that's certain, it's that Marvel really wants to work with Adam McKay. Back when Edgar Wright departed Ant-Man in 2014, McKay was the first guy they went to in an attempt to salvage the film, and though he passed, he did enough work on it to earn a screenwriting credit.
McKay is currently doing the rounds for his upcoming Oscar contender Vice, and while appearing on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, he let it slip that Kevin Feige came to him once again to salvage an MCU film, in this case Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3...
"We've talked a little bit. Yeah," he said in regards to Vol. 3. "We were kicking around the idea of the Inhumans at one point. We're always kind of talking. I think Feige is just the greatest and what they're doing is amazing."
There's no denying McKay's sensibilities would fit well with the Guardians franchise, or really anything in the entire MCU, and it's good to know that they're positively beside themselves at the notion of him directing a movie for them. At the same time, I don't blame anyone for turning down the Guardians job because that's a hot potato that no one really wants right now.
Vice is in theaters on Tuesday.
