One of the only highlights of 2011's Green Lantern was Mark Strong as the not-yet villainous Sinestro. Though the character was written like garbage and seemed to be there only to set up his role as the villain in the sequel that never happened, Strong managed to make the most of it which is why DC is likely looking at him to come back to the DCEU to play another villain.
According to The Hollywood Reporter—which broke the news that Zachary Levi would be playing Shazam—Strong is in talks to come aboard the Shazam movie as the evil Dr. Sivana. The villain was the very first nemesis of the supernaturally gifted superhero in the 1940s and has done some nefarious stuff through the ages like teaming up with a telekinetic worm he named Mr. Mind. Crazy stuff that I doubt they'll do in this movie.
Anyways, it'll be great having an actor that's as capable as Strong, not to mention one as follically challenged as the character he's playing. I kid Mark Strong, he can take it. He's one of our greatest tough guy actors and really should have had a shot at playing Bond. But I think having him as Dr. Sivana will be just as good.
