If you're a notorious figure from a footnote in history, the best you can hope for is that someone attractive will play you in the movie version of your story. Tonya Harding hit the biopic jackpot when they cast Margot Robbie to play her in I, Tonya, the critically acclaimed movie about the skater's life and involvement in the kneecapping of her rival, Nancy Kerrigan.
The only person to have potentially made out even better than Tonya, perhaps, is her ex-husband Jeff Gillooly—played to brilliant effect on SNL by Rob Schneider back in the day. Gillooly looks not unlike a rat, yet is being played in the movie by Marvel hunk Sebastian Stan. That's right, Bucky from Captain America is playing this guy...
Man, oh man, to be played by Sebastian Stan when you look like that. Acid washed jeans aside, these two ended up hitting the biopic jackpot.
Word on the film, however, is that Allison Janney steals the whole film as Tonya's ruthless mother LaVona Golden. If this is the movie that finally brings her the recognition she deserves, so be it. I hate that people only know her because of that god awful sitcom with Anna Faris. Anyway, I, Tonya hits theaters starting on December 8.
