Yes, I know that Halloween is over and everyone's in a Thanksgiving mood, but there's always room for a little Freddy Krueger, even if it is November 1st. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince recorded a song in the late 80s called "A Nightmare on My Street" and they also recorded a video for the song—as was all the rage in the late 80s—but for whatever reason, the video was shelved and never seen... Until it surfaced online this week.
The video finds Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince crossing paths with nightmare purveyor Freddy Krueger, or some strange variation on him obviously played by Will Smith. The quality is exactly what you'd expect from a VHS port of the original video, as the source material was allegedly destroyed and only a handful of promotional VHS copies exist.
I'm not sure what the copyright situation is like on this, so watch it soon before New Line Cinema realizes that one of their most embarrassing pieces of pop culture ephemera has escaped the vault. It's an amazing time capsule of 1988 and it's always great to see Will Smith before he became Will Smith. The song itself can still be found on the album "He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper" if you're so inclined to pick it up.
