There could very well be a time in he near future when you wake up in the morning, drop the kids off at school, turn on your favorite morning show and you see Michael Strahan's big, gap toothed grin staring back at you.
No, I'm not talking about FOX showing reruns of the NFL pregame show during the week. The former New York Giants defensive lineman is a finalist to take over the seat vacated by Regis Philbin who retired last year.
The man has proven that he is comfortable in front of a camera as a member of the FOX NFL pregame team. In case you weren't aware (and the lack of ratings when the show was on the air means you probably are not) Strahan had a sitcom on FOX for a season (he played a former football player--talk about tough).
A number of people have had a shot guest hosting with Kelly Ripa. The word is that the decision makers have narrowed it down to three, Strahan, Seth Meyers, and Josh Groban. So it comes down to whether the producers want to entice more male viewers to watch, want to make the show funnier, or want to make their female fan base happy with Groban.
Mike, you'll lose a few points on your man card for this one, but if they ever let you sing with Kelly I'll set my DVR.
(Here's a clip of Strahan during his guest hosting gig.)
