Lisa Bloom typically represents downtrodden women with claims against powerful men. Like fat chicks who insist Usher almost gave them herpes and demand twenty million but will take fifty grand to go away. The backbone of America who might otherwise go unrepresented. As the Harvey Weinsten 'massage me or watch me shower if you want to work in this town" chickens came home to roost, Bloom accepted a big check to be Weinstein's false flag of feminism. For when giving Obama's daughter a sweet internship and Hillary Clinton half a mill is no longer enough.
Bloom issued a series of near farcical defenses of Harvey Weinstein's in the wake of the New York Times piece documenting Weinstein cravenly touching and sexually extorting actresses and female employees. In short, Harvey's a victim of changing times. Which is technically sort of correct. Though not technically a feminist position on dude's dropping their drawers in front of female employees and asking for good touch if they want to keep their jobs.
With continuing revelations of sexual intimidation and gross shit like cornering women and making them watch him masturbate, even Lisa Bloom's ambulance chasing mom, Gloria Allred, commented that she never would've taken the case her daughter did. The side of evil. Allred offered to represent any women with Weinstein jizz on their shoes who wanted to be made whole again.
When Rose McGowan and Lena Dunham launched a Twitter barrage calling out feminist Hollywood for lacking balls and letting a married guy with five kids Jabba women on the casting couch, that seemed to be enough for Bloom who casually walked away from her client, as if it never happened in the first place. Pretty convenient revisionist history to come.
The Weinstein case has the entertainment industry twisting in the wind. Perhaps even more so than the fifty or so similar cases that came before it, such as Joss Whedon just months ago. It's no hidden secret that at least half the decriers of Trump's pussy grabbing have been grabbing similarly for years on end. And everybody knows to shut up because it's a company town. Even the ardent feminists are sure to point their attacks outside the bubble. No different than any other enterprise that covers up its sins and dark side to put on a smiley face. Ugly, selfish, rank. Not special. That's the part that hurts.
