Link Brings the Stabtastic Badassery to ‘Hyrule Warriors,’ as Only An Elf-Boy Can (VIDEO)

Nope, we've no idea how a Dynasty Warriors/Legend of Zelda mashup came about either. It's a baffling combination, like some dickish DJ splicing Justin Bieber and Eminem tracks together and expecting not to be lynched by the scrote for it.

Still, as we all know, shit happens, and you have to make the best of it you damn well can. On that note, Hyrule Warriors is looking rather sexy, in a Wii U sort of way. Tecmo Koei's franchise is known for its stab-EVERYTHING-in-the-ass-and-ask-questions-later sensibilities, and Zelda certainly provides a nice menagerie of monsters to hack and slash.

In this spangly new trailer, Link's fancy-ass moveset is revealed. Fans of dramatic sword-flailing light effects and/or tiny green dudes being murderised en masse will be in their element here. In a charming little retro nod, you also get to throw big ol' explodey bombs into the mouth of a King Dodongo-alike.

Pretty but dumb has always been the watchword of the Dynasty Warriors experience, and a little Zeldafying has done nothing to diminish that. It's flashy, it's impressive, and it's ultimately fairly button-mashy, and that's just the way we like it.
