If you just started watching Netflix's new women's prison dramedy Orange Is the New Blackand found yourself thinking, 'Yeah, I could get used to seeing Donna Pinciotti do topless lesbian shower scenes,' well, don't. Get used to it, that is. Although the show was a huge hit with critics and audiences alike, which in turn led Netflix to make the obvious decision to order more episodes, Laura Prepon will not be a regular cast member in Season 2.
The former star of That 70s Show played inmate Alex, the lover of primary protagonist Piper (Taylor Schilling) and pretty much the main reason why she's in jail in the first place. Apparently Prepon will make a few appearances in the upcoming second season to wrap up loose ends in Alex's storyline, but that's it.
At this point we still have no idea whether leaving the show was Prepon's idea, or whether it was a creative decision by executive producer Jenji Kohan. And according to Buzzfeed, apparently Alex's return to the show hasn't been explicitly ruled out.
Still, we don't like this. Not one bit, or even a quarter of a bit. It's just dumb.
