Quentin Tarantino's latest film seemed to be riding on the crest of a wave over the last few months. There was genuine hype surrounding his 'southern' take on the spaghetti western genre but now the big chinned wonder has to deal with some rather unpleasant news regarding his movie. Both Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen have dropped out of the project.
Tarantino had already had to deal with this disappointment regarding the character of Ace Woody when his original choice for the role Kevin Costner had to pull out for scheduling issues, and now Russell has followed The Postman star out of the role.
Woody is destined to be one of the film's villains and is described as a ruthless trainer who likes to make slaves fight against one another for entertainment. Sounds like a pleasant man.
Baron Cohen was only line up for a cameo but it's still a double blow for QT. Fingers crossed that it doesn't ultimately ruin the project but with Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonadro DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson at his disposal, I think he'll be ok.
Django Unchained will be released on 25th December. Jesus's birthday will just have to wait till next year.
