For most gamers, it's been far too long since Kratos graced their television screens with his outrageous strength and renowned anger but the wait is finally over.
An official announcement has been made on Playstation's official Facebook page stating that a prequel to the God of War series is coming. The hype began to build last week with a picture uploaded onto the facebook page which read, "Will Vengeance Bring Redemption?" with a date at the bottom of April 19, 2012.
While little is known about the prequel at this point, a 75 second blood-soaked teaser trailer has been released (above). Also, Amazon has listed the game on it's site with a release date of December 31, 2012 as well as the very cool looking box art over HERE.

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of prequels. I get this feeling that everything is just getting toned down especially with the huge buildups that usually occur throughout a game's trilogy but I do see some real potential in this one. Bringing gamers back and showing them a different side of Kratos is a smart move before bringing him back for a proper sequel, which I really believe they'll do in a couple years.
