Kate Winslet makes her fair share of terrible movies. You couldn't pay me to sit through those Divergent movies, or Hideous Kinky, or whatever this mountain movie is that she's doing with Idris Elba. But she also makes a lot of good movies, leaving me to wonder where James Cameron's upcoming Avatar sequels are going to fall on Kate's good to bad movie spectrum.
That's right folks, Oscar winning actress Kate Winslet is returning to the loving arms of director James Cameron—who treated her like garbage on the set of Titanic—and signing on for his Avatar sequels. According to Deadline, Cameron is putting the past in the past and had this to say about the news that Winslet would be joining the cast...
“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career,” Cameron said. “I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”
No further details about her character were available beyond the name. This puts Winslet alongside returning cast members Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, and Stephen Lang. The first of the Avatar sequels hits theaters Christmas 2020.
