Two pretty big pieces of NFL news making the rounds this afternoon - the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that their first round pick, WR Justin Blackmonhas ended his holdout - and ESPN is reporting that Terrell Owens had an 'impressive' workout with the Seattle Seahawks.
First off, Blackmon needed to get to camp. It's one thing if a vet holds out; they've been there and know what's going on. Rookies need to be in camp and that's one of the reasons the league and players union agreed to slot rookie pay so these things wouldn't happen. Blackmon was at min-camp back in May but that doesn't get you ready like actual training camp.
Plus, if Blackmon is going to be the weapon that Blaine Gabbert needs, the two of them really have to start working together to get their chemistry down.
As for T.O., this could be his last chance and it sounds like he's taking advantage of it. We all know the guy keeps himself in game shape year round, it was more of getting a chance to show if he still has the skills or not. ESPN sources say Owens ran the 40 in under 4.5, which is pretty fast for a 38-year-old dude.
I know T.O. has been kind of a headache in his career, but his talent is undeniable. We love to see guys get second chances, and it would be a great story if Owens could make it in Seattle and be a contributor.
