Some people didn't like the first trailer for Hercules. I did, because I live watching Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson killing giant beasts, but I understood the critique: it was all splashy CGI effect, no plot.
The good news is that director Grett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand, Horrible Bosses) righted that wrong for trailer number two. This time, they definitely reveal the basic premise of the film.
The bad news? The premise of the film is a lot like the premise of Gladiator: hot wife of muscle-bound guy in toga hot gets murdered by powers that be, so muscle-bound guy in toga goes on violent quest for revenge.
Sure, there are giant beasts. Sure, there are 300-esque battle scenes. Sure, it's Greece, not Rome. I didn't say it was a Gladiator reboot. It just has the same basic premise. And I'm still fine with that. Because The Rock.
Hercules hits theaters July 25.
