TV & FILM

I've got to say, the first teaser for this movie didn't really do all that much for me. It seemed cold, dark, too serious and kind of unnecessary. But Disney has released the full-length trailer for The Lone Ranger, starring Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp--which of course means Helena Bonham Carter is in it--and for fans of Luther, the uber-cute Ruth Wilson, and it's actually quite impressive. Depp does his schtick without going over the top. The story seems interesting, as does the Ranger's new origin story. And the action looks pretty damn solid.
The Ranger's come a long way from his radio roots back in 1933 and has endured through television series, film serials, failed pilots and finally his own ginormous studio blockbuster film. Only took 90 years.
The Lone Ranger gallops into theaters on July 3rd.
