Michael Garcia - August 15, 2012
Most people consider Michael Jordan the best basketball player who ever lived. It's hard to argue that point, based on his stats, his six NBA Championships (with six Finals MVP awards) and five regular season MVP awards. Hell, the first line of his NBA.com bio has it in bold that he's the greatest player of all time.
Syracuse coach, and Team USA assistant coach, Jim Boeheim thinks that after seeing LeBron James play this summer, that there is a debate to be had and he made his case on Colin Cowherd's radio show today.
He's a leader. He gets on the court, he tells people what to do … this guy can guard five (positions) … put him on anybody, he can guard him. I always felt Michael Jordan was the best player I've ever seen. I didn't think it was close and I'm not so sure anymore. This guy is 6-9, 260 pounds and he's getting better. I know we've had great, great players through the years. He's like Magic Johnson with Michael Jordan-type skills as well.
Boeheim's not exactly new to basketball, so you have to respect his opinion. It's going to be hard for most people to agree with Jim on this until LeBron gets a few more rings, but the stuff he does at his size is remarkable.
Check out some vintage pics of LeBron in the gallery, too.
