CELEBRITY
Sam Robeson - May 17, 2018
Westworld actor James Marsden appears on the cover of the latest issue of Men's Health along with the various cover lines "Amazing Sex Tonight," "BIG ARMS NOW!" "CHOW DOWN & STAY LEAN," and "ARE YOU NINJA FIT?" In case you didn't put it together, this is a thinking man's publication, a magazine where great minds come together and talk about how steroids make testicles look like cashews. Because this is 2018, Men's Health thought it was necessary to get the cover girl's thoughts on woke stuff, and Marsden opens up about his non-struggle with white privilege and on just overall being a deep hunk:
Being a white male, you’re born with certain unearned privileges. My life hasn’t been filled with sorrow and deep struggle. When the divorce happened, it was the first time I felt I lost my equilibrium. It was scary and sad and made me pull everything into focus. I know regrets can be a catalyst for good things. Not to talk like a Hallmark card, but it’s true.
I don't know exactly what Hallmark card you'd slap that on, but I'm pretty sure it would be in the special needs, I mean special occasion, section. He also, rather timely, chimes in about wanting to be more like Kanye West:
The people who are like, ‘Oh, that was great. I’m the best,’ are usually the ones who aren’t. Unless you’re Kanye West. I wish I could be that confident about myself. I wish I could think like him, telling myself I’m awesome all-day long. I wasn’t raised that way, or to speak that way. But it’s impressive.
If Marsden wasn't brain-dead I would think that he's actually throwing shade at West. But, he, is. On having to both mentally and physically wash off his role on Westword:
It makes us look at behavior, and we see some very dark behavior on this show. I have to wash it off afterward, and then physically I have to wash it off to get the blood out of my ears and body orifices.
Very important to bring up the ears and orifices. It's like he's actually his robo character Teddy. Finally, here's Marsden on the nuances of mental health:
[Exercise is] the cheapest antidepressant ever.
