You've been asking for it for over 25 years, and it's finally gonna happen. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have just signed to play their respective characters one last time in Bill & Ted Face the Music.
According to a press release out of the just opened Cannes Film Festival, the film will focus on the fact that the Wyld Stallyns have yet to write the song that was prophesied to bring peace to the entire universe...
"Bill & Ted Face the Music will see the duo long past their days as time-traveling teenagers and now weighed down by middle age and the responsibilities of family. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns our heroes that only their song can save life as we know it. Out of luck and fresh out of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it. Together with the aid of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends, they find much, much more than just a song."
Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot is stepping behind the camera for this one, while Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey scribes Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have returned to write the script. Obviously the biggest missing piece here is the late, great George Carlin, who left us in 2008. I hope they don't recast, but if they must, get Bruce Dern. He'd hit the role of Rufus out of the park.
