We all know that the day had to be coming. Kobe Bryant has been playing for a pretty long time. Next season will be No. 17 for him. That's a lot of wear on the body; he has had some issues with his knees the last couple seasons. He's made a enough money to fill up Scrooge McDuck's vault a couple times.
In the above video Kobe is reminded about something he said back when he first entered the league as a teenager; that he would be done playing by time he turns 35. The man turns 34 in August so that benchmark is coming up.
He's won five championships and one (soon to be two) Olympic gold medals. What more does he have to do? Why not hang it up before he has trouble making it up a flight of stairs because of the pain in his knees?
It sucks to see one of the great ones walk away, but then again, he sounds real non-committal in the video so who knows what'll happen.
