Iron Man is due to hit our screens at the start of next month in The Avengers but Marvel studios has decided to release further details about the latest instalment to its original franchise. Ben Kingsley has been confirmed as the villain for Iron Man 3 with the even more surprising revelation being that part of the film will be filmed in China. Good luck with that!
Variety has reported that Kingsley has signed up for the flick but it has yet to be announced which comic book fiend he will be playing. The plot of the film is expected to see Tony Stark experiment with nanobot technology as he looks to combat a virus that could damage his precious suit. The baby.
Shane Black, the writer of Lethal Weapon and director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, will direct the film with Robert Downey Jnr, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson joining Kingsley on screen.
Meanwhile Marvel have announced via a press release that the film will be filmed in China. "Iron Man 3 continues the story with a new chapter that will deliver more heart-pounding action than ever before. Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 will find Tony Stark with his back against the wall, facing his most fearsome foes yet."
And they wouldn't lie to us would they?
It continued "The co-production of Iron Man 3 in China is testimony to the importance of this audience to Disney and the local industry capability to deliver a blockbuster title. We look forward to working alongside DMG to bring Iron Man to the Chinese marketplace in a significant way."
So a Chinese sub plot will more than likely be involved which will probably mean that Kingsley's villain shall be The Mandarin. Who is a character that was born into a wealthy Chinese family and is a descendant of Genghis Khan as well as a technology enthusiast. Which of course means that he is a sworn enemy of Tony Stark.
Maybe 2013's summer blockbusters will be even better than 2012's then.
