TV & FILM

One of my favorite movies of the 90's was Independence Day. Not because it's a particularly good film, but because it is just pure unadulterated fun. For whatever reason, there was never a sequel. That's odd if you think about it because it's totally the type of movie that would have a sequel. Well, now we have the long awaited sequel. The problem is, besides the fact that Will Smith isn't in it, is that it seems really serious. It seems that the Earth has been preparing for the return of the aliens for the last 20 years. The Jeff Goldblum character is back to do his thing. Bill Pullman is also back as the inspirational speech giving president. The new hero is Liam Hemsworth being all handsome and whatnot.
I am afraid that this movie misses the tone of the first. Independence Day is supposed to be exciting and kind of funny. It's not so serious.
