It looks like Breaking Bad won't be the only AMC show to get the spinoff treatment.
Fresh off the confirmation of Better Call Saul, the network has announced that The Walking Dead will also receive a 'companion series.' The show will take place in the same post-apocalyptic world as The Walking Dead, but will consist of entirely new characters never before seen in the current television show or comics.
Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman explained:
After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn't be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.
While both these shows sound interesting, I'm holding out for a Mad Men spinoff chronicling the hilarious World War II exploits of Roger Sterling. I'm thinking it will be a mix of Perfect Strangers and The Thin Red Line.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October. (Source)
