How Much Would The Darth Vader Suit Cost?

Darth Vader is still one of the most menacing film villains of all time. He's scary even though we now know that he used to be a whiny Canadian Jedi with mommy issues. One of the things that made Vader so frightening was his dark suit. That mask, the James Earl Jones voice amplifier, the ominous breathing, all had a chilling effect. We also know that the suit was keeping him alive after Obi Wan Kenobi pwoned him on Mustafar. But how much would Darth Vader's suit actually cost to make? Some Brits at Shade Station figured it out an it would cost 18.3 million dollars. The base suit alone is 12 million, plus the prosthetics, the heart and lung machine keeping him alive, the augmented reality in the mask, and don't forget upkeep. That is factoring in the technology we have available to us, of course. It might be cheaper in Star Wars world.

Not that 18.3 million is anything much to The Emperor. He rules an entire galaxy with an iron fist, after all. Hell, Jay Z could afford 18.3 million much less Emperor Palpatine.
