How Much Are You Worth to Facebook?

The numbers are pretty funny, if you think about it. A survey that Netpop conducted recently in light of Facebook's impending IPO filing showed that 42% of users are "uneasy" about the information they're sharing on the social network. Tim Berners-Lee, who's credited for inventing the Internet, even weighed in on the privacy issues that people face online, telling them to demand for their data from the likes of Facebook, Twitter, and Google.

All this fuss about privacy and data requests give people the impression that their information is probably worth a ton of money. But an online tool by privacy firm Abine called the Val-You Calculator is indicating otherwise.

The Val-You Calculator gives you an estimate of your probable worth to Facebook by asking you questions about where you live, how many friends you have, how often you "Like" stuff and post photos, how much money you make, how long you'll be using Facebook, and if you play any Zynga games.

The Facebook Val-You calculator relies on data from the Facebook S-1 Filing, independent financial and market research analysts, data from Facebook advertisers, as well as Abine's internal modeling and estimates.

I gave Val-You a whirl and was appraised to be worth a measly $16. I played around with the tool for a bit and noticed that a user's location influences the value heavily. For example, by changing the location from 'Asia' to 'USA or Canada,' my Facebook value skyrocketed from $16 to $68.

So how much are you worth to Facebook? Check out the Val-You Calculator to find out.
