Andy Serkis is a brilliant actor with a number of impressive works on his résumé. However, you know that for the rest of his life, any time he goes to a party or gets recognized on the street, the only thing people are going to say to him is "Do Gollum! Do Gollum!"
Fortunately, Serkis seems like a pretty nice guy who's very satisfied with the niche he has carved out for himself in Hollywood, and he has no problem just giving the people what they want. Or at least, he has no problem when "the people" are Conan O'Brien and Andy Richter.
Last night Serkis stopped by Conan to promote the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, for which he once again did the motion capture and voice work for Caesar the Chimpanzee. And when Conan asked his guest what a phone conversation between Gollum and Caesar would be like, Serkis didn't think twice.
Obviously I thought it was all pretty amusing, or else I wouldn't have write a post about it. Hopefully you agree with me.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters July 11, 2014.
