Sad news hit the interwebs today when we found out that the great Harold Ramis has gone to that great Ghostbuster's fire house in the sky. As a kid that grew up in the 80's, Ramis was pretty much comedy incarnate for me. Aside from the fantastic movies he was in like Stripes and Ghostbusters there were also the films he wrote and/or directed like Groundhog Day, National Lampoon's Vacation, and Caddyshack. Ramis' understated delivery and snarky facial expressions played a perfect counterpoint to Bill Murray's sarcasm or John Candy's silliness. Coming out of the Second City crowd of the 1970's, Ramis was one of possibly the greatest comedy generation to come up since the Jack Bennys and Jackie Gleasons came out of vaudeville and radio. Here are just a few of Harold's best scenes that either he acted in or wrote. So, long Egon.
