CELEBRITY
Lex Jurgen - May 24, 2017
There became no real point in bagging on Maxim's Hot 100 list. Whatever it was before, it transitioned fully into a corporate publicity tie-in contest the day they named Miley Cyrus the hottest chick in the world a few years back. It was an obvious ploy to ride the coattails of her massive twerking popularity over an semblance of "sexiest" legitimacy.
That was several magazine valuation declines and cheap ownership sales ago. Not much has changed. Hailey Baldwin was put atop the list this year. Meaning, Maxim scanned the social media top reality TV era models and Hailey's people agreed to get her involved in exchange for the title and cover. Baldwin's a decent looking celebrity daughter. She wouldn't be a model were it not for her famous name and Kardashian social circle. That in comparison to crazy hot girls from Caucus mountain villages swept away at twelve before they could be defiled by men without mansions.
Even according to Maxim themselves, the Hot 100 is anything but a beauty contest:
“Simply being pretty isn’t the only requirement to cracking Maxim’s legendary Hot 100: You’ve got to be a badass. And Baldwin is. She’s a provocateur in the best sense, titillating the public with relationships with Justin Bieber and bating gossip rags with comments like ‘Yes, I’m pregnant and @KendallJenner is the baby mama.”
Huh. So she's not the sexiest chick but she teased everybody about dating Justin Bieber and made a joke nobody over eleven or with a dick would laugh at? This may be worse than Miley Cyrus. At least Cyrus' selling point was entirely sex. Some guys wanted to fuck her, in spite of looking like an extremely tired mongoose. Not good looking, but selling base lust. Baldwin, boring average mannequin the night guard might finish on if nobody's looking.
There's probably a case to be made not to have every single remaining magazine published within a few square blocks of each other in Manhattan. There's the potential for corporate group think. Also calling Hailey Baldwin a provocateur.
