My first initiation into the Evil Dead franchise was with Army of Darkness, the very tongue-in-cheeky medieval time-travelling movie in the series, so for years I never really understood what the big hub bub was over the whole thing. It never seemed scary at all and I shrugged the whole thing off. And it was only recently that I finally saw The Evil Dead and its first sequel and as horrifying and gory as that was, from the trailers I've seen of the new remake, that flick, also produced by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell from the original, seems to up the ante on the batshit crazy-o-meter at least ten times over.
In the much anticipated remake of Sam Raimi & Bruce Campbell's 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant haunted demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
Evil Dead opens April 12th.
