Remember PlayStation Vita, Sony’s actually-pretty-damn-sexy-if-you-give-it-a-chance handheld? Probably not, because Sony decided they had no effs to give about it and it’s more less irrelevant now. If you pass by The Great Landfill of Gaming Craptacular one day, you’ll likely see a few of them buried under a mound of Virtual Boys and ROB the Robot peripherals.
Anywho, Vita hasn’t entirely flatlined just yet. Drinkbox Studios just dropped Severed, a system-exclusive dungeon crawler with touchscreen sword combat. It’s pretty freaking awesome, all told, and legitimizes the whole touch controls thing. This isn’t some half-assed mobile game.
Severed, you could say, is the true nerdly gamer’s Fruit Ninja. Replace slathering hell-demons from the depths of the devil’s ass –cartoony ones, but still-- with bananas and watermelons and that analogy works fairly well. And now, talk of a more ‘mature’ take on Fruit Ninja brings us to this.
This is heavy stuff, right here. Flaming swords being waved around in a wooded area? Real life pineapples giving their lives for our entertainment? This is rough. This is Scott Winn, back with another slice of live action ninjaing.
YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE. GUARDIAN OF THE FOREST. TRAINED TO PROTECT AGAINST… THE ENEMY, booms voiceover man, before… well, this happens:
