Got a bunch of old typewriters and keyboards lying around the house? Don't throw them out. Don't even drop them off at the recycling center for a few bucks. Instead, ride on the steampunk bandwagon and take them apart to come up with sculptures and helmets that you can then pass off as art.
You might just be able to pull it off, if you've got a keen eye and a glue gun. It's either that, or a whole lot of tubes of superglue.
That's what Gabriel Dishaw did with his old junk and he's raking in close to a thousand bucks per junk art sculpture that he sells on Etsy. It's probably a whole lot harder than it looks or sounds, but don't knock it until you've tried it. You can always just buy one from Gab when you give up.
Own It: $400 to $800
