I'm surprised that alleged serial masturbator-in-front-of-women Louis C.K.'s name hasn't really been brought up once in the midst of this whole Harvey Weinstein debacle. The rumors of his (ahem) behavior are as legendary as those of Weinstein's, and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop on one of the most beloved comedians in America.
C.K. takes his first step toward becoming a serious filmmaker with I Love You, Daddy, a film that is either directly inspired by the work of Woody Allen or the time C.K. spent with Allen making Blue Jasmine. It seems like it's simultaneously an homage to Allen's filmmaking style while the John Malkovich character is clearly a riff on Allen himself and his no-less-scandalous reputation.
If you step back for a minute, it's kind of a genius move on C.K.'s part. All of these various conversations can swirl about the film, allowing anyone to read anything they want into any of it. It could backfire in spectacular fashion, and we can get ready for another round of he said/all the rest of them said. The fun never seems to stop around here. I Love You, Daddy hits theaters on November 17.
