There's been a lot of speculation as to which stars from the original Star Wars films will return for Episode VII. But if this picture that director J.J. Abrams released via his production company's Twitter account is any indication, we can stop speculating about R2-D2.
In the photo, Abrams, along with Kathleen Kennedy and two other gentlemen who probably love their jobs, were shown posing with the iconic droid at the film's pre-production workshop. However, there was no sign of R2's "longtime companion" C-3PO.
Perhaps I'm jumping to conclusions about R2-D2 actually appearing in the film. Maybe he's only there as a production consultant. But given the amount of BS speculation about this film, I don't think I'm going to lose any sleep over it if I turn out to be wrong.
Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on Dec. 18, 2015, so don't die before then.
