Records were made to be broken, and these days, box office records don't stand for very long. Universal's The Fate of the Furious, the eighth film in the franchise, racked up a record breaking $532 million over the Easter weekend. Less than 18 months ago, Star Wars: The Force Awakens smashed all records when it opened to a worldwide total of $529 million, and now it's been bumped down to second place.
The Fate of the Furious scored the franchise's second biggest domestic opening weekend with an estimated $100.2 million, which just goes to show the power of these flicks overseas. By comparison, The Force Awakens notched $247 million from North America in its opening weekend, so while Star Wars may rule America, the Fast & Furious rule the world.
None of this will come as a surprise to anyone who has seen a Fast & Furious movie because they're jam packed with sex appeal, something Star Wars is noticeably lacking. Just look at all the hot women who have passed through this franchise over the years, it's like a who's who of who you'd like to bang: Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Gal Gadot, Nathalie Emmanuel, the list is endless. In fact, I'll just let these pictures speak the thousand or so words I could never adequately use to describe them...
