For me, Far Cry has never quite made it into the A list of gaming franchises. It's a big name, true enough, but it's not quite there. When the Call of Dutys and Metal Gear Solids of the video game world throw spangly cocktail parties, Far Cry is invited, but it has to remember its place. The paps won't be that assed about it, unless it does something really outrageous.
I'm not too sure where I'm going with this, either, but I'm a stubborn dude and I stand by that last paragraph. Let's just get to what happens when Far Cry does make news, with some ridiculous PRtastic.
The latest in the action-adventure series, Far Cry Primal, hits February 23. There's a fair amount of hype for Ubisoft to drop on us, and only a month to fit it all in. So on with the batshit crazy marketing stunts already.
Over Europe way, Ubi's ‘Cavebnb Promo' is a contest giving gamers the chance to win a night in a cave. It all fits with Primal's prehistoric setting, natch, and it's better than trying to garner attention with preorder-exclusive DLC or some other unscrupulous evil like that. But still, why?
