We've learned quite a bit about DC's upcoming female-driven superhero movie Birds of Prey recently, like the plot of the film, who will be playing all of the heroic women, and that the film is aiming for an R-rating. The one big question mark was who was going to play the villainous Black Mask, a Batman villain who has yet to grace the big screen, but a veteran of franchise film making has boarded the film in that role.

According to Deadline, Ewan McGregor will be playing Black Mask, which was something of a slam dunk for DC considering that McGregor is romantically attached to Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the actress playing Huntress. McGregor joins Winstead, Jurnee Smolett-Bell's Black Canary, Rosie Perez's Renee Montoya, and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in the film.

McGregor is currently hard at work playing Danny Torrance in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's Shining sequel, Doctor Sleep, and also recently won a Golden Globe for his dual roles on Fargo. In addition to appearing in Fargo with Winstead, the 46-year old actor also left his wife of 22 years for the 32-year old actress just under a year ago. He has also been rumored to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a potential Star Wars standalone film, though the project seems to be dead at the moment.

Birds of Prey flies into theaters on February 7, 2020.
