Everyone Loves a Lil’ Girl-On-Girl Action…Scene. Especially ‘Fast and Furious 6’

I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about cars. Don't know my pistons from my shocks or my V-8s from my Ocean Sprays. But I do know a lot about girl-on-girl scenes. Maybe it was my time as a creative consultant on The L Word, or perhaps it was that year I spent as a prison guard at an all-female penitentiary in the backwoods of Louisiana, but I've earned a PhD in Cat Fights that hangs framed on my wall. And that's why when I heard about the Michelle Rodriguez/Gina Caranobrawl in Fast and Furious 6, I knew I was in for something special.

If you've seen any of the trailers for the movie, then you know I'm not spoiling anything when I reveal that Rodriguez is returning to the franchise as Letty, the role she originated in 2001's The Fast and the Furious and although she was back behind the wheel in Fast and Furious, the character took a one-movie death hiatus, only to return once again. As for Rodriguez, you don't get your start in a movie called Girl Fight and not know how to kick some ass. And coming from a background of MMA fighting, well--Let's just say Gina Carona could probably take me apart limb by limb with only one hand. And I'd love every minute of it.

While some female actresses are probably too preoccupied with a lock of out-of-place hair or their make-up during a close-up and want a stunt double to cross the street for them, that hardly seems an issue for the two fighting actresses in Fast and Furious 6. 'I love action,' Rodriguez told Egotastic! while on a visit to the production's London set. 'I dont get enough of it.'

Unable to heap enough praise on co-star and sparring partner Carano, Rodriguez believes this is the perfect time to be a budding female action star in Hollywood. 'It's a really great time to be in the business and be a tomboy...I had to literally fight not to be the girlfriend. Every single time they see a girl they just think of her vagina and a relationship. There's other aspects of existence that are a little bit cooler to focus on when you're doing an action movie.' The actress definitely has broken down some doors over the last fifteen years in her different portrayals of strong, independent, ass-kicking women, which is why we're happy to label her the Rosa Parks of Cat Fights.

And what does Rodriguez feel has changed the most since the first film? The meddling insurance companies who will hardly allow the actress to get behind the wheel of one of the fast cars on set. The woman behind Letty brushes their fears of sending her to what I call bat-shit-crazy driving school off. 'The death toll is 2 out of a 1000 a year. Whatever.' Yeesh.

Does she want to see more women beating the ever-living hell out of one another on the big screen? 'Girl fights are cool. There aren't enough.' Damn straight, Michelle. Damn straight.
