Victorian England is the perfect setting for a little Assassin's Creed action, really. As any nerdly historian/really, really old bastard will tell you, it wasn't a pretty time. Dastardly fatcats were everywhere, giving no effs about their impoverished workers as long as their own cashtacular kept rolling in. And if anyone needs a quick wristblade to the jugular, it's those guys.

That's the setup for Assassin's Creed: Syndicate in a nutshell. We take the role of Jacob Frye, studly top hat wearer and leader of a fearsome street gang known as the Rooks. These guys are the Robin Hood(s) of nineteenth century London's smoggy shit-stained streets, fighting to release the city from the Templars' corrupt grip.

Here, fresh from E3, is the latest trailer. It's one of those newfangled ‘cinematic' trailers, which means it give you absolutely nothing in the way of gameplay but looks impressive and makes E3 crowds holler.

Still, it also showcases a couple spangly new things for the series: vehicles you can commandeer, cruise about in and brawl on top of, and the vicious, street-fighty new combat style. Check it out below, and get a taste of what's coming when Syndicate hits later this year.
