Don’t Look for Loki in the ‘Avengers’ Sequel

If you enjoyed Tom Hiddleston as Loki in last year's Avengers film, I've got some news that will destroy your world (or perhaps just slightly annoy you). Writer, director Joss Whedon has announced that the character will not return for the sequel.

While speaking to the Empire Movie Podcast, Whedon explained that rehashing the same villain would only end up disappointing fans. "Imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well," Whedon said in backwards speech pattern similar to Yoda.

Given Whedon's feelings on repeating himself, it's too bad he didn't end up directing The Hangover sequels. Ouch, after that burn, I'd hate to be Todd Phillips right now... except for all his girls and money and respect within the film community, etc.
