David Wilson Hall of Fame Watch – Week 14

Michael Garcia - December 13, 2012

I can't lie, I got kind of caught up about David Wilson's breakout performance and nearly forgot to put this post up. I even voted for him for Rookie of the Week on NFL.com in addition to naming him the Egotastic! Rookie of the week. Wilson made some eyes roll earlier this year when he declared that he would end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, despite barely seeing the field at that point and having one TD to his name.

Then week 14 happened. Wilson returned a kickoff 97 yards for a TD, racked up 100 yards rushing on just 13 carries and ran for two more touchdowns. Wilson became the first NFL player in history to have 200 kickoff return yards and 100 yards rushing in the same game. He ended the day with a ridiculous 327 all purpose yards.

It's great that he finally showed the speed and skill that made the Giants take him with the 32nd and final pick of the first round. But it is just one game and Wilson needs to do that a lot more if he wants to reach his goal of being enshrined in Canton.

Canton probability after week 14 - Low, but with a little bump up.
