David Hasslehoff Changes His Name To David Hoff For Some Reason

David Hasslehoff is a ridiculous, ridiculous man. Maybe because I'm not German I don't get him or appreciate him as much as I should. Sure, as a kid I loved Knight Rider, who didn't? But other than that he's been a bit of a joke. Baywatch was awesome for all the bouncing boobage but it was a really terrible show. Since then he's basically become a giant parody of himself. He has ceased to be a person and became a caricature, he became The Hoff. With that nickname in mind he decided to formally and legally change his name to incorporate this nickname. He is now and forever more David Hoff. In the above video he shows the certificate of name change and he also altered his IMDB profile to show the new name. I don't know why I find this so sad. Maybe because it just seems like some desperate attempt at getting some attention.

Or perhaps it is because he has lost his personhood and become the image. All he is now is the guy from Knight Rider who sang at the fall of the Berlin Wall with a light up jacket.
