Next year on June 8, the 1984 comedy classic Ghostbusters will be celebrating its 35th anniversary, and director Ivan Reitman and writer/star Dan Aykroyd want all of the film's fans to come out for this once in a lifetime event. Is it just me or does that camo baseball hat make Aykroyd look like Larry the Cable Guy. Here's a side-by-side...
Uncanny, right? Though I doubt you'd ever catch Larry drinking any of that froufrou crystal skull vodka. I do bet you could find a pic of Aykroyd in a sleeveless shirt, though.
Anyway, Ghostbusters Day was begun in 2016 to celebrate the release of the Ghostbusters remake, which apparently featured female ghostbusters, though I can't confirm that's the case. Next year's celebration will coincide with the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters and the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters II, so I wanna see all you Vigo and Janosz Poha cosplayers out in force!
The celebration will be held on the Sony Pictures Lot, and though Aykroyd and Reitman are the only two GB related personalities confirmed to attend, I'm sure that Ernie Hudson can carve out some time in his schedule to attend. Fingers crossed, anyway. Don't bank on Bill Murray or Rick Moranis being there though. The ghost of Harold Ramis is probably more likely to attend than those two.
