One week from today, we finally get to lay our eyes on the long overdue Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, but first we have this trailer for the film/appreciation for the band from some of the many bands influenced by Freddie Mercury and company. It's an eclectic mix of musicians from across genres like rock, pop, country, dance music, and more, showing the wide range of influences Queen has had over the years.
It's not terribly surprising to see this many different musicians fawning over Queen and their many groundbreaking music recording techniques, but at the end of the day, you can tell that these musicians appreciate Queen's ability to reinvent what music could be. I particularly like Jason Mraz's observation that Queen wears their influences on their sleeves and there's no reason that rock music can't have nods and references to other genres.
It's upsetting to say the least that Bryan Singer retains sole directing credit on the film and it will certainly hurt its prospects in certain arenas, but there's no doubt this flick is going to be a smash hit. Anything that brings Queen into more people's lives is worth it in the end, I suppose.
Bohemian Rhapsody will rock you beginning one week from today!
