For years, you've been writing letters and sending faxes to "Hollywood" demanding a follow-up to My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Finally, your sad, desperate, low-tech pleas have been answered, and a sequel is in the works.
Nia Vardalos, who created the original film, is slated to return for an update on the life of Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos, the protagonist of the first film. John Corbett will also return as Toula's husband, Ian Miller.
"A few jaded press corps will claim I ran out of money and just want to kiss John Corbett again," Vardalos tweeted. "One of these things is true."
Part of me is sad that Hollywood is so desperate it has to rehash a mediocre comedy from 2002. But on the other hand, the movie made over $300 million dollars, so I'm surprised it took them this long. Also, this entire article is a rehash, so who am I to judge.
Besides, even if you hated the original movie, it's hard not to like Vardalos on a personal level. In other words, better her than Katherine Heigl.
