One of the most anticipated new series of the fall season this year is Fox and Marvel's The Gifted, set in the world of the X-Men. It seems that since we haven't seen a ton of footage from the show, Fox has decided to release the cold open to the Bryan Singer-directed pilot.
This intense clip drops us right into the middle of the mutant conflict faced by our new group of heroes. In quick order we're introduced to some familiar characters to comic book readers: Blink, Eclipse, Thunderbird, and Polaris, the latter of whom X fans will know is one of the daughters of Magneto. Whether or not that means we'll ever see Michael Fassbender show up on the set remains to be seen; Spoiler Alert: No chance that happens.
Obviously the big draw of the show is that, unlike FX's Legion, this series is allegedly connected to the X-Men movie universe, so we'll have to see how that plays out. It seems to be in good hands, what with Singer directing the pilot and Burn Notice's Matt Nix on board as writer and show-runner, but the more they play the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. card, the more lost the show will become. Incorporate or don't, but this wishy washy nonsense Marvel is doing on ABC is getting old. The Gifted premieres on Fox this coming Monday, October 2, at 9pm EST.
