You're guiding and protecting the president though a section of Los Angeles that's little more than blown up freeways and smoking vehicles. .. This is the evolution of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.  Whomever you're fighting in this war seems to be winning because LA is thrashed as far as the eye can see. The somewhat on-rails segment we saw has you using an installed missile turret to take down a handful of jets with one pull of the trigger. Six missiles fired but you had to use skill to track and then lock before  pulling that trigger.

There's the variance and special sequences we've come to expect from the single player component of Call of Duty. There's a jump jet is sitting on a traffic-free downtown street just calling out to you, daring you nerve and skills. Flight combat is a different beast altogether and continues a theme we saw in the first Black Ops when we piloted a helicopter for a bit.

We also saw special assault weapons that seem to combine thermal vision with other special tech. A green grid is overlaid on objects you're aiming at to give you a sense of the shape of an object when there's so much smoke around. This feature was paired with a powerful thermal scope mounted on a semi-auto so that you were always ready to take out a variety of threats. There's surely more to that mapping-grid feature.

We'll have plenty more on Call of Duty: Black Ops II very soon.
