Brandon Weeden was named the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns today, putting the future of former starter Colt McCoy in a state of limbo. Weeden being named the No.1 guy doesn't really come as a surprise, since the Browns picked the 28-year-old in the first round of April's draft it was kind of expected that he would be the man in Cleveland.
The other thing that makes this move unsurprising is that we're talking about the Browns. They are constantly changing quarterbacks and have been pretty awful since coming back into existence in 1999. If they are committed to Weeden, they might as well try to move McCoy and get some players of value in return.
It's not as if McCoy can't play. He showed signs of being an above average QB with the Browns, but they're so bad it's hard to look good as an individual. The Browns are saying they're lucky to have McCoy and Seneca Wallace as their backups, but it would be pretty surprising if they keep Colt.
