University of Wisconsin basketball coach Bo Ryan is trying to damage control over his terrible handling of Jarrod Uthoff's transfer, and in the process is making himself look worse.
Ryan appeared on ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike in the Morning today and tried to make the point that he's only doing what other coaches before him have done. So what? That doesn't make it right.
Uthoff is a player who redshirted his freshman season this year. He realized Wisconsin wasn't a good fit for him, so he wanted to transfer. Ryan told him he could, but said he can't go to any school in Wisconsin's conference, which is the Big Ten, or any Atlantic Coast Conference schools either. Ryan also said Uthoff couldn't go to Iowa State or Marquette. Give me a break.
Ryan was hyper-defensive and petty, and made himself and his school look really bad. Here's a snippet of the interview, which got really contentious at times.
