Following her break-out roles in The Martian and Blade Runner 2049, it seems that Paramount is eager to hitch their trailer to the Mackenzie Davis express. Hot on the heels of the announcement that another new Terminator was in the works for next year, the studio has hired the actress as the new "face of the franchise," without elaborating on that statement any further.
According to Variety, Davis joins returning stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton for this new Terminator film that will ignore the last three Terminator flicks, positioning itself as a sequel to T2: Judgment Day. No other details have been released at present, leaving many to wonder whether she'll be the new Sarah Connor-esque ass kicking female or a cybernetic killing machine.
If you're not familiar with Mackenzie, I would highly recommend you check her out in the Black Mirror episode "San Junipero," the closest thing that series has had to a heartwarming love story. She's also great on AMC's underrated Halt and Catch Fire, and is starring opposite Charlize Theron in the new Jason Reitman/Diablo Cody joint Tully due in theaters next month. The point of all this is that you should jump on her bandwagon now, because it's going straight to the top... provided they don't reboot the series again.
