It's the month of May and you know what that means. You have to buy a Mother's Day gift. What are you going to get? A piece of clothing she'll never wear? It's not that you don't have good taste, its just that you don't have the same taste. A new nick-nack? She'll just leave it on a shelf somewhere and it will collect dust. If you really want to give your mom a gift she will love and not end up shopping somewhere awkward then you are going to have to go with a new tech toy. The days of doilie loving moms are long gone. Lets talk about some great budget technology gifts that you can give your mom to show her you think she is cool. Don't worry they all come with tech support departments so you won't have to field a million annoying calls.
An e-Reader Tablet
The Kindle Fire or the Nook Tablet will give your mom the best of an e-reader and the best of a tablet all in a budget friendly package. Let's be honest if you can't afford an iPad for yourself, or a prior bad experience with a certain past device you may have given her is shying you away from an expensive purchase this is a good middle of the road option. You'll look like a loving son without shelling out $600 to the cause and cringing every time she sets a tea cup down next to it. As for which one to buy, that depends on your brand preference. If your mom is going to need a lot of help you may want to strongly consider the Nook. That way she can go and get support in store if she needs to.
Digital Photo Frame
Yes, your baby photos are likely to show up in the rotation, but you can always just pull out the power cord when you bring a new girlfriend home to meet your folks, or set up the meeting in a less embarrassing location like a restaurant to save yourself a world of pain. Just stay out of the big box electronics stores and scout online for a deal on one of these.
An iPod
If your mom doesn't have one of these already then you have been remiss as a gift giver for many years. An iPod Shuffle will let her take all of her favorite music with her while she cleans the house, hits the gym or just ignores the people around her while she's grocery shopping. If your mom already has an iPod then why not get her an upgraded pair of headphones? A stylish pair of ear buds, like those sold by ChicBuds or a great over the ear pair can be a great gift.
